Gooood morn-ting Bizzies!!!
First, let me start by apologizing for the impromptu two-week hiatus. Your girl has definitely been bizzy on her grind and networking! As a result, I’ve stumbled upon a couple of really good opportunities to collaborate on a couple of hot projects with some amazing and talented people. I am super excited about what’s to come. I can’t give the deets now, but I will definitely let you guys in on the goings ons as soon as they are ready to be revealed and announced. So, sit tight!!! lol
Anyhoo, so much has gone on in the world of fashion and entertainment in these last couple of weeks that I don’t know where to start! The sudden death of the Fashion Police host, Joan Rivers, the airing of Macy’s Fashion Rocks live from S.F., out of control athletes and more reality show madness! Really, where do I start?? How about HERE, in the safe and creative world of fashion. First up, FASHION WEEK! Fashion week kicked off earlier this month in America’s fashion capital, New York City. It started on September 4, 2014 and ran through to September 11th. Here’s a quick recap of some of my favorite Spring 2015 trends and fashion ideas that can actually be ripped from the runway and added into your look for this fall season.
Wide-legged pants. Rock this must have with a button down and oversized sweater for a casual and comfy look or pair it with a blazer for a clean, professional look. Either way, this piece will carry your wardrobe from fall to spring!
Theory and Alice & Olivia wide legged slacks shown in two different looks.
Wide leggs by Cynthia Rowley and Derek Lam. Two of my faves.
See, I’m a fan of the wide legged pants! lol My slacks are by BCBG Max Azria.
Oversized sweaters are a must have. Check out Victoria Beckham and Norma Kamali’s over-sized pieces.
Loves, an over-sized sweater with a pencil skirt! Yaaas!!
This look is by Norma Kamali. I’ve been a fan of this designer since the 80’s. She’s known for her bold black and white printed pieces. Loves the idea of pairing the over-sized, bright colored sweater with a black and white printed, knit pencil skirt. This look is sexy and comfortable.
Bold prints, Maxi’s and Leather…oh my!!
Maxi dresses are a good investment. They can be dressed up or dressed down for comfort. Pair them with a jacket and a pair of boots in the fall/winter season or a pair of sandals and a few accessories in the spring. Maxi dresses by Victoria Beckham.
Mixed patterns and prints done well by Alice & Olivia. Loves. Live on the edge a little. Things don’t always have to match. Florals and stripes, plaids and polka dots, you’d be surprised how sleek and unique you could look in a perfectly mixed matched ensemble.
Cross-body bags are trending on and off the run way. Hands free and functional! Hello leather! I love this leather shirt dress by Derek Lam. I like the fact that it can be worn many ways through out the season. You can easily pair it with boots and a pair of funky tights in the fall/winter season or in the spring layered it with a tee underneath and a pair of strappy sandals. This item is a definite must-have.
Borrowing a page from his book. You can never go wrong with layering up in the fall/winter seasons with a few men’s fashion inspired pieces. A nicely tailored blazer, fitted vest and/or a pair of well fitted slacks will surely add a bit of edge to any basic look that’s in need of a little something extra to take it from eh to okaaaay! Loves these looks by Temperley London.
Speaking of London, London Fashion Week started last week on the 12th and ends this week on Tuesday, the 16th. Stay tuned for that re-cap.
Right behind London is Milan, which will run from September 17th-23rd and last but definitely not least (of the the big 4), Paris Fashion Week, September 23rd-October 1st.
This ends my first installation of fashion week’s recap.
