Good morn-ting Bizzies!
Hopefully you had a fantabulous weekend! How was your Father’s Day? I wasn’t able to spend the day with my father this year, but next year I’d like to surprise him. Shh, don’t tell. lol. Anyway, other than that my weekend was pretty laid back, besides me continuing on with more closet sweeping/wardrobe updating, ie. spring cleaning. In doing that, I ran across a few things I hadn’t worn yet, that I picked up on sale at the end last season to wear this year. (TIP: It’s always a good time to shop towards the end of the season because you can find really good deals, blowout sales. Especially on some those pieces you’ve been eye balling all season, but were out of your budget.) That’s how I shop most of the time. At the end of each season, I stock up on staple, classic pieces that I know I’ll be able to wear the next season, unless it’s a must-have, then I wouldn’t want to risk missing out. January-March is the best time catch deals on coats and boots that you can wear for the following Fall/Winter seasons and August-September is the best time to stock up on pieces like shorts and dresses.) Just though I’d share that little nugget of info. So, anyway I ran across a couple of things that I was able to work into my Spring/Summer wardrobe for this year, like this black Isaac Mizrahi for Target dress and these gold Fergie sandals. Loooves both of these items!
I found the dress at a thrift store for about $10 and the shoes I bought on sale for about $20 at DSW. Yesterday, I paired them both up with my white pearl necklace and some gold accessories for fun. Flats/sandals are okay in the summer to tone down a “dressy” look. I think these sandals add a more casual/modern edge to this sophisticated, classic look. What do you think?
I feel like I’m channeling Michelle O’bama in this look. lol. Bad hair day yesterday. Smh.
This look works for a casual weekend brunch or possibly a date or even if you are hosting a small get together and you want to be cute but comfortable. It’s definitely a versatile look. The sky is the limit with these classic items. If you add a jacket, different accessories or heels you can easily transform this simple look into a more dressy (with a blazer or cardigan), funky (jean jacket) or even edgy (biker jacket) look.
I’ll show this same dress worn different ways in another post. Stay tuned!!
Thank you for checking in today! I’ll have more fashion and entertainment news later this afternoon. Toodles!
